Several other states are presently considering legislation to advance access to computer science education. Leaders include Ohio, which introduced a bill in the house to direct creation of K-12 computer science standards and establish a competitive technology grant program. North Carolina is also pursuing K-12 standards legislation, and Colorado and Montana are pursuing creation of computer science education resource hubs for teachers.

Over the past months we’ve put a ton of work into improving performance. We’ve changed how lists operate under the hood and unified large portions of our Mac & iOS code. The resulting speed boost will be most noticeable for those with very large databases and many projects, but the app will generally be snappier for everyone. Focused on grades 7-9, CS Discoveries empowers students to engage with computer science as a medium for creativity, communication, problem solving, and fun. While designed to engage students with varying levels of experience, CS Discoveries was carefully crafted not to put beginners at a disadvantage from the outset. Adafruit worked with educators to create a board packed full of sensors, lights, sound, and more – all with an out-of-the-box set of experiments.

IOS 16 also makes it possible to create multiple Lock Screens, so you can put different widgets on each one and switch between them throughout the day. After years of using one blog, then using a number of different blogs, then not blogging at all, I’m now blogging once more. Currently, the plan is to focus on mesa code that I’m working on, specifically zink code. Unless otherwise noted, all the code here is in the public domain . Governor Raimondo (D – R.I.) supported legislation to direct the state’s elementary and secondary education committee to recommend computer science curriculum by mid-2018.

Optimizing transfer_map is one of the first issues I created, and it’s definitely one of the most important, at least as it pertains to unit tests. So many unit tests perform reads on buffers that it’s crucial to ensure no unnecessary flushing or stalling is happening here. Governor Otter (R – Idaho) signed legislation to allocate $2 million for FY18 to support Idaho’s computer science initiative, launched in 2015. Last but not least, we’re happy to announce Things Cloud “Fractus” – a smart new method for syncing text. Markdown lets you style text while you type.If you’re new to Markdown, this will all seem a bit quirky at first – but we encourage you to try it out! Many people love Markdown, and you might end up liking it, too. If your iPhone or iPad is locked and you swipe right to reveal your widgets, your to-dos are now redacted for privacy.

Developing Real-Time Collaborative Apps with Azure, Microsoft 365, Power Platform, and Github

We’re so happy to support you and the work you do each day as you make an incredible impact in student’s lives. Launched in 2016, The Governors’ Partnership for K-12 Computer Science is a group of state leaders committed to advancing policy and funding to expand access to, and increase equity in, K-12 computer science education. The Partnership shares best practices for computer science education reform, and advocates for federal policies that support the expansion of and access to K-12 computer science, including funding opportunities, flexibility, and policy change. During the 2017 legislative session, Partnership co-chairs Governors Asa Hutchinson (R – Ark.) and Jay Inslee (D – Wash.) proposed budget allocations to support course implementation and professional learning for educators. Arkansas’ proposed budget was approved, and Washington’s budget is currently under consideration by the state legislature. We’re a non-profit dedicated to giving every student in every school the opportunity to learn computer programming.

  • And our survey results show that more students want to learn!
  • Things is now significantly faster across the board. There were also a few situations where Things would behave differently on Mac & iOS.
  • In this blogpost we demonstrate an attack on the integrity of Sysmon which generates a minimal amount of observable events making this attack difficult to detect in environments where no additional security products are installed.
  • Governor Ducey (R – Ariz.) signed legislation to invest $200,000 into K-12 computer science standards development.

For schools where more than half the students are on free or reduced meal plans, the Arduino kits will be provided to teachers free of charge. For other teachers in the program, Code.org and Adafruit will subsidize 70% of the cost. Based on the professional learning program’s registration numbers, over 11,000+ Circuit Playground Classic boards will be subsidized to help students learn physical computing. This blog post attempts to give insights into its features, security measures, and especially its weaknesses/vulnerabilities that often result in remote code execution. We’re also introducing major additions to the ExploitRemotingService tool, a new ObjRef gadget for YSoSerial.Net, and finally a RogueRemotingServer as counterpart to the ObjRef gadget. Things’ Quick Find feature does a great job of searching across all your lists. But sometimes you want to narrow the search to the note you’re writing, especially if it’s a long one.

A Quick Optimization

The longer a note gets, the more important it becomes to have a way to structure it. It’s the biggest change we’ve made to notes since Things was first released, and we think you’re going to love it. I keep saying this, but I feel like I’m progressively getting further away from the original goal of this blog, which was to talk about actual code that I’m writing and not just create great graphics memes. So today it’s once again a return to the roots and the code that I had intended to talk about yesterday. I’m making this code available publicly in good faith; note that this does not mean the code is supported in any way. I’m unlikely to provide significant support for code in old articles, for example, because sometimes I no longer have the environment required to run and test the code. And by subsidizing the kits, Code.org continues its efforts to democratize computer science education, to broaden participation by underrepresented minorities and classrooms in the most underprivileged neighborhoods.

  • This blog post describes the research on SAP J2EE Engine 7.50 I did between October 2020 and January 2021.
  • It’s packed with great improvements, including two new widgets for iPad, widget customization, support for Live Text, and much more!

Serialization binders are often used to validate types specified in the serialized data to prevent the deserialization of dangerous types that can have malicious side effects with the runtime serializers such as the BinaryFormatter. In this blogpost we demonstrate an attack on the integrity of Sysmon which generates a minimal amount of observable events making this attack difficult to detect in environments where no additional security products are installed. Only the text you modify is synced.Until now, each time you modified a note – say to insert or remove a few words – the entire note would be synced again across all your devices. With our new method, only the fragments of text you modify are synced. This drastically improves the speed and efficiency of the sync, and allows for smarter resolution of conflicts. When you hit Return a new bullet is inserted; return again escapes the list. It’s where you capture any extra info you need to get the task done.

Over 800 teachers are participating in the Code.org professional learning program to begin teaching the course this school year to over 30,000 students. Governor Reynolds (R – Iowa) and her predecessor, Governor Terry Branstad, proposed legislation, which passed, to encourage every public and nonpublic K-12 school to provide high-quality computer science education by July 1, 2019.
